This is reprinted from Whatcom Family Farmers. Whatcom family dairy farmers have been inappropriately blamed for the recent Lummi shellfish bed closures. The water quality situation has changed dramatically since the shellfish beds were closed twenty years ago and dairies were blamed. Now, a closer look shows that other contamination and pollution issues are the primary concerns.
