A new proposal targeting farm forestry in Western Washington could set a devastating precedent for the entire WA farming community.

The state Forest Practices Board wants to force unjustified and unscientific new standards for forest buffers on non-fish-bearing streams that would take hundreds of thousands of acres of working forestlands out of production, costing over $2 billon.

Not only would the plan crush the small family foresters stewarding much of the region’s forestlands, but the politically-motivated move would set a precedent that threatens hundreds of thousands more acres of farmland across Western Washington’s lowlands.

The plan doesn’t align with already-existing environmental standards, and there are troubling questions about the process followed to bring it forward.

Tell the Forest Practices Board and other leaders to stop this plan now before it causes deep harm to Washington’s farming and forestry communities.
